Despite the dodgiest refereeing I’ve seen in some time Liverpool did edge it and certainly looked the hungrier of the two teams.  Utd looked like they couldn’t be bothered and only tried to raise the tempo after falling behind.  Dangerous game playing like that, as you might be able to pull it out of the fire a few times but your bound to get found out sooner or later.  The whole side looked sluggish and too often were second to the tackle and slow releasing the ball….Owen for the few minutes he was on added more spark than Berbatov through the whole first half and we certainly didn’t capitalise on Valencia down the right as I’m sure he had the beating of Insua.

For the neutrals a good result as it keeps the prime contenders bunched up, especially with the Gooners drawing at Upton Park, but for Utd the big worry is Chelski and their own lackadaisical attitude…unforgivable in a game against the old enemy…

I recently volunteered to take part in the inaugural Frost & Sullivan “Frost the Trail” run for corporate social responsibility (CSR)…(bit of a mouthful that one) with a number of my colleagues.  Basically teams of four runners each had to complete an 8.1km run around the Kepong Botanical Garden (KBG) area of the Forest Reserve Institute Malaysia (FRIM), followed by a track through the jungle and then endure further punishment running over some rubble strewn dirt track.   Anyway the main reason I entered was because a number of my younger colleagues mentioned that if I could do it how hard could it be…this was like waving a red flag in front of a bull and despite an ongoing calf injury (not sure if it was sustained playing football or after the pub one night) I rose to the challenge.

Despite having to get up at 5ish on a Sunday morning we all managed to finish the course.  More suprising was the fact I didn’t do too badly.  Finishing 31st out of 100+ and comfortably ahead of my younger but obviously not fitter team mates.  Guess running after a ball twice a week helps more than you know….

Anyway now looking to start more regularly and having been introduced to a great site (www.mapmyrun.com) are even thinking about getting a proper pair of running shoes

I mean with the season barely a third over we have a perfect opportunity to put a nail in the pool’s title ambitions for another season.  With Rooney, Giggs, Evra, Fletcher and Park all missing the mid-week game there’s not gonna be another opportunity to stuff it to the scouser’s so emphatically.  We could also just force the hand of the fools in charge of Liverpool and cause them to ditch our favorite Spanish waiter since Manuel was in his prime – (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fawlty_Towers#Manuel   for those of you who never caught Fawlty Towers).

Anyway our usual footy gang have the bi-annual Utd vs. Pool supporters game a couple of hours before the match (this one being a forgone conclusion) followed by a trip to the pub and few well deserved beers to help things along heres to hoping it’ll be the Liverpool fans crying into their beers come Sunday night.

Only thing niggling at the back of my mind was last seasons 2-1 defeat in the game at Anfield -  Liverpool minus Gerard and Torres in the starting lineup…..hears hoping theres no such thing as déjà vu.
